BORL Mini Marathon “Daudega Bina – Aage Badhega Bina”, 2018

BORL believes Sports to be the key change agent and a means to inclusive development. A platform is essential to unite people of all generations to take part in promoting physical activity and consciously raising social awareness. In a bid to raise much needed social alertness BORL successfully organized the “BORL Mini Marathon, 2017 – Run for Green Bina – Clean Bina” in Bina.

Considering the necessity and overwhelming response in 2017, BORL Mini Marathon “Daudega Bina – Aage Badhega Bina” was organized on 11th February, 2018. The vision of the Mini Marathon was to establish a sustainable community focused running event, encouraging people of all generations to lead healthy lifestyles and further their personal fitness through running and regular physical fitness.

The route of the Marathon was from “Gandhi Tiraha to Ambedkar Chowk – approx. 3KM”. The event was categorised into 4 different age groups - Male 14 to 28 yrs, Male 29 to 49 yrs, senior citizen above 50yrs and Female 14 to 49 yrs.

The Marathon was flagged off by Shri S S Sunderajan - Managing Director, BORL in presence of Shri Mahesh Rai – MLA, Shri Sudhir Yadav – MP Representative, SDOP, TI, Janpad Adyaksh, Shri Abhairaj Singh Bhandari – Sr. VP Projects & TS, Shri Swaminathan – Sr. VP BDT & Mktg, Shri Umesh Upadhyay – Sr. VP HR other Govt officials, Dainik Bhaskar Chief Editor and Unit Head, prominent sports persons, people of Bina, media officials and BORL employees.

This time around, the Marathon attracted participation of approx. 3000 people. The first 3 winners of each category were awarded with prize money and certificate.

Prizes - first, second and third in all categories:

  • First Prize – Rs 11,000/-
  • Second Prize – Rs 7,100/-
  • Third Prize – Rs 5,100/-

MD addressed the gathering and appreciated the people of Bina for participating in such large numbers and showcasing their sportsmanship. He stressed that BORL will continue to work for overall development of Bina region and such initiatives would be organized from time to time.

MLA, Bina applauded the participants of all generations and congratulated BORL for successfully organizing such a mega event for the second time in Bina. In his address he valued the initiative and encouraged the public to be a part of such event, which would promote healthy and conducive environment in Bina. He also appreciated the initiatives and support extended by CSR Team for promoting inclusive development of Bina region.
